Cancer Services is seeking a passionate, community-minded Executive Director to lead our organization and advance our mission of assisting cancer patients and their families emotionally and financially throughout Erie, Huron, and Ottawa Counties.

For more than 60 years, Cancer Services has been a trusted resource for local individuals and families facing cancer. Through programs including nutritional supplements, transportation assistance, prescription assistance, medical supplies, wigs, and financial support, we help ensure that no one faces cancer alone.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to make a meaningful impact in the lives of cancer patients while guiding a respected nonprofit organization with a strong history of community support.

  • Location: Sandusky, Ohio
  • Position: Full-Time | Exempt
  • Reports to: Board of Directors
  • Supervises: Patient Services Coordinators and Administrative Assistant
  • Salary Range: $60,000-$80,000 annually (Actual compensation will be based on qualifications, skills, education, and experience.)

Cancer Services is seeking a compassionate, strategic, and community-minded leader to serve as its next Executive Director. For more than 65 years, Cancer Services has provided emotional and financial support to individuals and families facing cancer throughout Erie, Huron, and Ottawa counties.

The Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners to ensure the continued growth and sustainability of the organization while advancing its mission:

Position Summary

The Executive Director provides overall leadership and direction for the organization, including strategic planning, fundraising, financial oversight, board relations, staff development, community engagement, and program management.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director supervises the Patient Services Coordinators and Administrative Assistant and serves as the primary ambassador for Cancer Services throughout the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight of programs, operations, finances, and human resources.
  • Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to establish and implement strategic goals.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality patient services throughout Erie, Huron, and Ottawa counties.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with donors, volunteers, healthcare providers, and community partners.
  • Lead fundraising efforts, including annual appeals, major gifts, grants, planned giving, and special events.
  • Monitor financial performance and ensure sound fiscal management.
  • Prepare reports and maintain effective communication with the Board and staff.
  • Represent Cancer Services throughout the community and serve as an advocate for individuals and families affected by cancer.
  • Promote a culture of compassion, collaboration, and excellence.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, healthcare administration, business, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with budgeting, strategic planning, and organizational management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and financial and data management software.

Preferred

  • Five or more years of progressively responsible leadership experience in nonprofit management, healthcare, or a related field.
  • Experience in fundraising, resource development, and donor stewardship.
  • Knowledge of financial management, employment regulations, and healthcare trends.
  • Experience working with boards, volunteers, and community organizations.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
  • Frequent local travel throughout Erie, Huron, and Ottawa counties.
  • Occasional evening and weekend meetings and events.
  • Limited state and national travel as needed.
